Seven Years Building Digital Protection

Back in 2018, we started Plamtex with a simple goal. Businesses needed proper firewall management, not just another security vendor making promises. Southampton became our home base, and we've spent these years learning what actually works when networks face real threats.

How We Got Here

Our journey wasn't planned out perfectly. We responded to what clients needed, adjusted when things didn't work, and kept pushing forward.

2018

Foundation in Southampton

Started with three people and a mission to provide honest firewall management. Our first client was a manufacturing firm that had been burned by oversold security promises. We focused on making their network defensible rather than perfect.

2020

Remote Security Shift

When businesses rushed to remote work, we spent months helping clients secure new endpoints and protect distributed networks. Those challenging weeks taught us more about adaptive security than the previous two years combined.

2022

Team Expansion

Brought in specialists who understood compliance frameworks and regulatory requirements. This wasn't just growth – it was recognition that modern security needs multiple perspectives and diverse technical backgrounds.

2024

Advanced Threat Response

Developed our incident response protocols after witnessing how unprepared many organisations were. We now maintain continuous monitoring systems that catch unusual patterns before they become serious problems.

2025

Looking Forward

Currently working with clients across sectors who need security that adapts to changing threats. We're investing in automation tools that handle routine checks, freeing our team to focus on complex security challenges.

What Drives Our Security Approach

Security work reveals a lot about how companies operate. Over the years, we've seen organisations that treat firewalls as checkbox items and others who understand that network protection requires ongoing attention.

We fall into the second category. Our approach comes from experience with actual breaches, failed configurations, and the messy reality of keeping networks secure. These principles guide every client engagement.

Network security infrastructure and firewall configuration management

Proactive Defence

We monitor networks before problems escalate. Most breaches give warning signs – unusual traffic patterns, configuration drift, outdated rules. Catching these early makes all the difference.

Clear Communication

Security reports shouldn't require a decoder. We explain what's happening on your network in straightforward language, focusing on risks that actually matter to your operations.

Practical Solutions

Perfect security doesn't exist, but effective security does. We build defences that work with your existing infrastructure and business processes, not against them.

Rapid Response

When something goes wrong, response time matters. Our team handles security incidents quickly because we've prepared for them and know your network configuration.

Continuous Improvement

Threats change constantly, which means security configurations need regular updates. We review and adjust firewall rules based on current attack patterns and your evolving business needs.

Long-Term Partnership

Security isn't a one-time project. We're in this for the long haul, building relationships where we understand your business and you trust our expertise.

People Behind the Firewalls

Security work happens behind the scenes, but real people make those decisions and respond when alerts go off. Here's who you'll work with when you bring Plamtex onto your security team.

Alastair Fenwick, Technical Director at Plamtex

Alastair Fenwick

Technical Director

Spent twelve years in network administration before co-founding Plamtex. Still gets his hands dirty with firewall configurations and enjoys the puzzle of designing security architectures that balance protection with usability. Outside work, he's usually cycling along the south coast.

Declan Ashworth, Security Operations Lead at Plamtex

Declan Ashworth

Security Operations Lead

Joined us in 2021 after working incident response at a financial services firm. Brings a methodical approach to security monitoring and has an uncanny ability to spot suspicious patterns in network logs. Keeps the team sharp with regular security drills and scenario planning.
